Great Hairdryer!5
This is a great hairdryer for the price. The Conair Nano Silver allows your hair to dry faster, but doesn’t do damage with the heat. I find my hair much silkier and smoother using it. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight, quiet and fast hairdryer.

Where’s the Beef?3
UPDATE SEPT. 2008 — This baby is dying, almost gone. No power. No more cheapie dryers for me.

Ionic dryers are supposed to be quieter than regular dryers and cut down your drying time as well as negatively charging your hair so it doesn’t look as frizzy. My old Elchim dryer worked way faster than this one and frankly, my hair doesn’t look any less frizzy, it’s just harder to get the waves out because the air doesn’t come out as hard. Maybe it’s less damaging to hair over time, but in the short run, it isn’t an improvement. And it isn’t quieter, just higher pitched. Wish my old dryer hadn’t broken. On the plus side, this one looks really cool and space age. If only my hair did!

Infiniti by Conair Nano Silver5
This dryer is wonderful. It cuts my drying time in half and leaves my hair shiny. The hot setting is hot! It has a low and high setting. WIsh it had a medium, but other than that, it’s great!

You will not be disappointed!!!!5
These are the ONLY booties/socks that my friends daughter can’t seem to get off no matter how hard she tries (and believe me, she gives it her best shot every time she’s wearing anything on her feet!). She also gets lots of compliments on the look of the booties. So, I have just ordered a few pair for our baby who will arrive in July! I can’t wait to use them! They are great for babies not yet walking, however, they do not have any sort of traction on the bottom so once baby starts standing they could be a little slick. All in all, definitely worth the money for something that will actually stay on their feet. :)

We used these CONSTANTLY!!!5
I LOVE these booties. We bought my son a pair of 3-6 month ones and he wore them so much they stretch enough for him to keep wearing them until about 8 months. I got TONS of compliments on them because they are super cute and many adults commented on how they wished they came in their size! They slip on and off super easy and they stay on, we NEVER lost one. They’re also very warm and cozy and wash and dry very well. Hope this helps!

easy on / easy off, warm, buy 3 they are small!5
Can’t say enough good things about these little booties. Buy them try them, you’ll be getting more.

Is Waking Up With A Folgers Coffee In Your Cup The Best Part Of Your Day?

Filed under: Uncategorized — izakub @ 12:53 pm

Most of us are familiar with the famous Folger’s slogan: “The best part of waking up is Folger’s in your cup!” Folger’s Coffee was founded by James A. Folger in the 19th century in San Francisco. Proctor & Gamble acquired Folger’s in 1963, after it had become one of the major brands of coffee in America. Folger’s not only offers several basic coffees, but has developed Folger’s several gourmet selections as well.

For those who use ground coffee on a daily basis, Folger’s Classic Roast is the most popular. Folger’s Simply Smooth collection was created for those who love coffee, but have sensitive stomachs. It comes in regular and decaffeinated. Simply Smooth is created by choosing quality coffee beans and roasting them to a level that will ensure good flavor without irritating sensitive stomachs.

The Folger’s Coffeehouse Series offers something for everyone. Starting on the mild side, Folger’s Breakfast Blend offers a mild, smooth coffee flavor. Moving on to a medium roast, their new House Blend has full flavor and a café-style richness. Heading into the medium-dark roast, Folger’s French Roast is hearty and robust in the French tradition of coffee. Also in the medium-dark range is their 100% Columbian which offers a rich and unique flavor. Folger’s newest offering in dark-roasted coffee is called Black Silk, which is described as smooth, with a subtle smoky note. Finally, Folger’s gold standard coffee is the dark-roasted Gourmet Supreme, a smooth, rich, full-bodied coffee.

Folger’s Flavors gives the coffee fan even more to experiment with. Chocolate Silk combines the richness of chocolate with a full-bodied coffee flavor that appeals to chocolate fans everywhere. Cinnamon Swirl adds a delightful hint of cinnamon to a rich coffee. French Vanilla is a very mellow coffee with the enticing scent of vanilla, and finally, Hazelnut combines a rich nuttiness to another mellow coffee.

And finally, we have Folger’s Gourmet Selections. Bistro Blend is a medium roast coffee that is available as ground coffee, perfect for drip saeco coffee maker cleaner. Crème Brulee is a ground coffee with a unique light flavor. Lively Columbian is a rich, full-bodied medium-roast coffee available in decaffeinated, ground and in whole bean.

Morning Café is a light-roasted coffee with a delicate bright taste. It is available in ground. Caramel Drizzle is another ground coffee with a rich creamy finish. Hazelnut Crème is enticing, rich and smooth, and is available in ground and in whole bean. Chocolate Truffle is a must for chocolate lovers. It is creamy and rich with a distinctive chocolate flavor you won’t soon forget. Vanilla Biscotti is smooth and creamy with a luscious vanilla finish. It is also available in both ground and whole bean. Espresso Roast is a bold and intense ground coffee, perfect for anyone who truly loves the full flavor of coffee.

Folger’s still makes instant coffee as well… the well-known Folger’s Crystals, and now in single serving packets as well. They also make three Cappuccino flavors that make an instant cup.

Folger’s also makes Coffee Pods, which work with the Home Café system to brew one perfect cup of coffee at a time. Coffee Pods come in a variety of flavors. The pods look similar to a round tea bag, and are placed into specialized saeco coffee maker cleaner. by Krups and Black and Decker.

A SERVING OF FOOD IS NOT WHAT WE NORMALLY

Filed under: Uncategorized — izakub @ 12:49 pm

A SERVING OF FOOD IS NOT WHAT WE NORMALLY PUT ON OUR PLATE OR WHAT WE ARE SERVED IN A RESTUARANT!  Remember this when you eat as you may be consuming far more calories, sugar, carbs, etc than you realize.  For instance, a Seder serving of cereal, grain, or pasta is 1/2 cup.  That’s right, 1/2 cup.  When was the last time you ate only 1/2 cup of cereal, oatmeal, or pasta?  You get the idea?  One serving of a bread product is 1 ounce, not a half basket of the rolls they bring to your table at a restuarant or a couple of hambuger or hot dog buns.  By the time they bring your food in some of the restuarants that bring out bread first, you’ve probably already gone over your calorie and carb quotient.  It is very important for diabetics especially to remember this!  Most vegetables are also in the 1/2 cup catagory for cooked vegetables or vegetable juice.  A Seder serving of raw vegetables is generally 1 cup.  For fruit the general rule is 1/2 cup of fresh fruit or fruit juice.  That goes down to 1/4 cup for dried fruit.  And a serving of meat is 4 ounces or about the size of a deck of cards.  Don’t fool yourself into thinking, “I only ate one plate full.”  Stop to think about what was on that plate.  When eating at home, measure your servings until you get to the point where you can reasonably guess how much equals a serving.  When eating out, especially at restuarants that serve big portions, ask for a to-go box and put half of your meal in it before you even start eating.  Again, this is especially important for diabetics as you must keep your calories and carb intake under control.  And franky, it’s easier if half the food is already out of sight.  You also have a bonus.  You have another meal to take home and have the next day.  Here in America we have gotten “hooked” on “Super-Sized meals” and frankly that is not good for us!  Eating everything on your plate is not going to help some hungry child in a third world country, as many of us were told as children.  So don’t use that, or anything else for that matter, as an excuse to overeat.  It’s your health at stake!

Izze Sparkling Clementine Soda Full Case (24 12oz Bottles)

Filed under: Uncategorized — izakub @ 8:55 pm

Izze Sparkling Clementine Soda Full Case (24 12oz Bottles)

Great Tasting!5
This is a very good drink. Tasty and not syrupy I really enjoyed the flavor. I tried the Sparkling Clementine. It is funny when I tasted the drink I thought, yup, that tastes like a Clementine. Then I looked at the back for the ingredients. There are juices (from concentrate) from White Grape, Apple, Lemon and Orange Juice. No Clementine. Funny enough it really is a nice flavor.

Izze also offers this beverage in a just over 8 oz. a can. The drink does not have caffeine or added sugars so I don’t feel bad about drinking it. It isn’t overly sweet so it adds a bit of energy rather then making me tired.

This is not a hydration beverage as much as a tasty treat. It is not unhealthy so you don’t need to feel guilty by downing one or two of these in a day. Not calorie free but not too bad either. The taste is not overly sweet. I have heard from others who consider it bitter. I disagree. I think this bitter taste is from tastebuds too used to sugary sodas.

A great drink, a good company and thumbs up in my book

Maintain your Coffee Maker

Filed under: Uncategorized — izakub @ 4:46 pm

A coffee maker is a wonderful appliance and a great way to save time and money, but it does require a bit of maintenance. Too many people overlook the maintenance of their coffee maker for too long. Regular maintenance can add years to the life of a coffee maker, and knowing how to care for and perform even the most routine maintenance can help to revive an older coffee machine. In order to keep your coffee machine working properly and brewing great coffee, a few simple steps should be followed. If you have never done any upkeep on your coffee maker, the following can help get you started. We suggest saeco coffee maker cleaner

Regular Maintenance

Organizing a regular maintenance schedule is a great first step toward keeping your coffee maker in working condition. Try cleaning the coffee maker when you maintain the other appliances in your kitchen. The maintenance that you perform will result in years of fresh-tasting coffee down the road. Many of the maintenance requirements of a regular coffee maker only need to be done once every few months, but to get the best results (meaning pot after pot of great tasting coffee) attend to it each month. Cleaning the machine won’t take too long, however the difference that it makes can be significant.

Quick tips such as dusting your coffee maker regularly can make a world of difference. However, using canned air (which you can find at most hardware/office supply stores) once a month will do the best overall job. Canned air will eliminate any dust that might be inside of the maker or on the heating elements. Also, it is a good idea to soak the baskets or metal filters in a solution of hot water and vinegar to help break up any buildup that they’ve accumulated. Rinse them thoroughly to get rid of any vinegar smell that remains after soaking. Clean the coffee pot and the heating plate underneath it with nonabrasive cleaners or with a solution of vinegar and water (ice, salt, and lemon juice will also work well to clean the inside of the coffee pot, especially if there’s any burnt-on coffee in the bottom.)

Lime Scale and Water Deposit Removal

At least once every three months the inside of your coffee maker should be cleaned to remove any lime scale and water deposits that may have built up. Cleaning solution specifically made for coffee makers can be purchased, or you can make your own with a solution of water and vinegar. Run the solution through a standard coffee cycle (or through several cycles if you’re worried about a lot of buildup.) Once the cycle has finished, run several cycles of clean water (preferably filtered or distilled) through the coffee maker to remove any remaining deposits or cleaning solution. Make sure the water that comes out no longer smells like vinegar or cleaning solution before using the coffee maker to brew a pot of coffee again.

Another way to reduce the buildup of lime scale and water deposits is by switching to filtered or distilled water to brew your coffee; or purchase a coffee maker with an in-line water filter. If you opt for the water filter, remember that the filter will need to be changed regularly. Again, a bit of a chore, but well worth the effort.

Inspection for Damage or Wear

When performing maintenance on your coffee maker, don’t forget to take the time to look for any cracks that may be developing in the coffee pot or other signs of damage or wear. Common signs that something may be wrong: a cord has becoming damaged or frayed, burn marks, discolorations, or warping on the plastic components of the coffee maker, and/or water spots or streaks that might indicate a leak. Some of these damages may create fire hazards, so if you notice them send the coffee maker in for repair or consider buying a new one.

Additional Maintenance As Needed

Remember, not everything that goes wrong with your coffee maker is predictable. Be prepared to perform additional maintenance as it becomes needed. This may be as basic as replacing a cracked filter basket or cleaning up burnt-on coffee that spilled onto the heating plate, or it may require taking care of more serious problems such as a heating element going out or a major leak. Most households and offices use the coffee maker at least once a day, and a little bit of upkeep each day will ensure that the coffee you brew from your machine will be fresh-tasting and just how you like it.

Sharpening Angles

Filed under: Uncategorized — izakub @ 4:22 pm

You’ve decided to sharpen your knives yourself.  No more squandering money by handing them over to a professional sharpener.  No more throwing away your dull knives just because you don’t know how to sharpen them—and refuse to turn them over to a professional.  Good for you!

You’ll need to know about sharpening angles then.  A person shouldn’t be sharpening a knife if there’s no mind to the angle.  It determines the purpose of the knife.  Pay close attention to them.  If you don’t, you really will be wasting time.  The sharpening angle of a knife is the sloping angle of the edge.  It determines the cutting effectiveness of each knife.  When you achieve the right sharpening angle, the edge will be as sharp as possible for as long as possible when used correctly.

Think about kitchen knives, especially a chef’s knife.  The sharpening angle is pretty small.  The edge is very thin.  This is good because you want your knife to work fast.  In the kitchen, you don’t want to keep repeating strokes with all the cutting you’ll need to do.  How about utility knives or hunting knives.  They’ve got much larger sharpening angles.  This is also good because you want these types of knives to have a more durable edge.  Their cutting jobs are much tougher than what you’d find in the kitchen (no bones allowed).  Generally speaking, then, small sharpening angles are best for fine cutting, when you really need razor-sharpness.  Large sharpening angles are best for rough cutting, for tough jobs that need lasting sharpness.

Maybe you’re thinking that it’s not so important.  A sharpening angle doesn’t really matter as long as you can make it sharp.  Allow me to answer freely.  Don’t think that way.  Take those thoughts right out of your head right now.  The sharpening angle is monumentally important.  Even were you to achieve sharpness with an incorrect angle, you’ll be sharpening again before you know it.  It just won’t last.  Compare the angles of different types of knives to each other.  Inspect their angles carefully and think of how each is meant to be used.  You’ll see it plainly.  It really does matter.

Every knife edge has an appropriate sharpening angle to maximize its efficiency and durability.  They’ve been tested and tested by knife manufacturers.  It’s been proven.  So here’s one crucial point you need always remember:  Don’t ever attempt to remake the edge.  To alter the sharpening angle.  It’s just not practical and will likely result in making your knives less than their best.  Trust each knife’s sharpening angle and maintain it.  You’ll get the best performance out of your knives that way.

Be precise and be very careful.
